Steve Florence

With over 20 years of coaching experience in both boys and girls basketball, Steve Florence brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to the court. He has also dedicated a decade to coaching varsity boys tennis and has been influential in shaping athletes at Lebanon for more than 10 years.

A proud alumnus of Centre College, where he played basketball, Steve’s competitive spirit has earned him recognition, including the GWOC South Coach of the Year award for Boys Tennis in 2012. As a social studies teacher, he fosters a love for learning and teamwork among his students.

Steve's basketball career includes notable achievements at Lynchburg-Clay High School, where he was a three-year varsity starter. He received All-State Special Mention in his senior year and was an All-District 1st Team selection for both his junior and senior years. By graduation, he was the second leading scorer in school history, amassing over 1,100 varsity points and setting records for field goal percentage in a game, season, and career. His contributions to the sport were further honored when he was inducted into the Centre College Athletic Hall of Fame as a member of the 1988-89 Final Four team.

Outside of coaching, Steve enjoys reading, watching sports, visiting historic places, and cherishing time with his family. He has been happily married to his wife, Amy, for 28 years. They have two children: their son, Sam, who is currently in law school at the University of Cincinnati, and their daughter, who is a senior at Miami University majoring in Business Economics.

Steve is excited to continue his coaching journey and inspire the next generation of athletes.
