Ron Volmering

Coach Volmering has been the Bowling Coach at Lebanon High School for 18 year. He has made a significant impact on the program and the community. A passionate bowler himself, Ron organized a club program at Eastern Kentucky University in 1977, where he competed in the Ohio Intercollegiate Bowling Conference. Although the program folded shortly after his graduation in 1978, his love for the sport continued.

Ron has an extensive coaching background, having previously coached at Berry Middle School, now Berry Intermediate, in football, boys basketball, and girls basketball.

His dedication to the sport of bowling and his players earned him the ECC Boys Coach of the Year award in 2024, and he proudly led his team to the ECC Championship in 2023-2024, a first for the boys bowling program! In 2025, Coach Volmering coached Bowler of the Year, Connor Copeland, and his boys bowling team made a run all the way to districts.

In addition to coaching, Ron is a retired teacher and currently serves as the Association Manager for the Miami Valley USBC. He is also on the board of the Ohio State USBC, further contributing to the bowling community. From 2004 to 2014, he co-owned Eastern Lanes in Middletown, where he helped promote the sport locally.

A familiar voice at Lebanon High School, Ron has been the announcer for LHS football games for 38 years, sharing his enthusiasm and expertise with fans.

Outside of bowling, Ron enjoys golf and gardening. He has been happily married to his wife, Kim, for 40 years. They have a daughter, Jaimie Smith, and a son, Derek Volmering, along with their spouses, Alex Smith and Trisha Volmering. Ron takes great joy in spending time with his grandsons, Sawyer Smith and Theo Volmering.

Ron looks forward to another exciting season, committed to nurturing talent and fostering a love for bowling among his athletes.
