We wanted to share a midseason update on the boys and girls bowling programs, who continue to build on Lebanon's strong bowling tradition. The season includes a mix of conference and non-conference dual matches along with weekend tournaments, and both programs are off to outstanding starts.
The boys team is 10–1 overall and 4–0 in the ECC, while the girls team also holds a 10–1 record and is 4–0 in conference play.
On the boys side, the Warriors are competing at a very high level with an entirely underclassmen lineup. Junior Matthew Alvear leads the league with a 216.7 average and a series high of 480. Earlier this season, Alvear eclipsed the 20,000-pin mark as a junior — only 22 Warriors in program history have reached that milestone.
Junior Carson Turner is averaging 202.2, ranking 8th in the ECC, followed closely by #9 junior Ryan Pelfrey (199.3) and #11 sophomore Connor Copeland (198.6). Pelfrey also recently surpassed the 20,000-pin mark, becoming the 23rd Warrior to do so. Freshman Ryan Kober continues to impress as well, averaging 191.2.
On the girls side, senior Caitlyn Kober leads the ECC with a 191.2 average. She surpassed the 25,000-pin mark in November and is closing in on the top five career scorers in LHS history. Junior Kaelynn Boyd (168.4), sophomore Savannah Billiter (167.4), and junior Ryleigh Connor (157.3) are all ranked in the top 10 of the conference.
Both programs have also enjoyed significant success in weekend tournaments, giving a strong indication that they are positioned for a deep postseason run beyond sectionals and into districts.
The Warriors have several key league matches coming up:
- Kings on the road at Mason Bowl on 1/13
- Loveland on the road at Crossgate Lanes on 1/14
- West Clermont at home at Eastern Lanes on Tuesday, 1/20
The ECC Tournament will be held on Friday, February 13 at RollHouse Fairfield, followed by the OHSAA postseason, which begins with sectionals the week of February 16. Both teams are aiming to return to districts after qualifying last season, and the boys program is seeking its 13th straight district appearance after advancing for 12 consecutive years. Shoutout to Coach Volmering and Coach Kober!Â
